My four year old loves her scooter. It’s the first thing she grabs when we go outside. My kids love to race with whatever wheels they are using, so you can imagine all the kisses I give to their boo boos when a slip or fall happens.
One particular time, there was a collision during a race and my four year screams and runs to me because she scraped her knee. Our usual routine—I give her a hug, I check out her knee, I give it a kiss and she’ll be on her way. But this time she decided to stay. Not because her injury was too serious, but because she enjoyed the love and comfort from me.
In today’s second reading it says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain.” And later it says, “Behold, I make all things new.”
There is no promise in this life that we live without pain. So how beautiful to have hope in a God who gives us assurance that He will give us comfort from pain. Just like a child injured, looking for their parent to make them feel better, we have a good Father who does that and more. He promises us eternal life without pain and suffering. What a beautiful thing.
As we continue our Easter season, I pray and hope it is full of rejoicing! We have a good Father ready to comfort you in His arms. Have a blessed week.
